I like the expression 'Going for the Jugular'.
My artwork is driven by a need to map out the area between what I see in front of me and what I see inside my head.
Inspiration is a key factor. Scouting for it keeps my focus sharp and allows me to stay in touch with what I love about life. More often than not inspiration will arrive unexpectedly but always it is crowned with intensity and that is how I recognise it. If it gets me by the jugular then it starts to come through in my work.
ML is a performing artist, painter and musician. Growing up with an instinctual distrust of establishment meant that ML would never attempt to study art in an academic way but preferred rather to learn his skills in subcultural circuits. The electric guitar brought ML into close contact with skate, tattoo and fetish culture, all of which have come to shape the particular extreme outlook on life that is evident in his work.
For now ML is based in the South-West and continues to work like a mule.
